"SACRED BODY"

ALUMINUM, 2020

In our Western culture, there is a tradition of separating the body and spirit within a person. This division is neither obvious nor necessary. Among other things, in Hindu culture or the Jewish tradition, there is no such strong division, and the body along with sensuality constitutes an essential divine aspect of human nature. "Sacred Body" is a sculptural attempt to integrate these two dimensions. The combination of a figure reminiscent of Greek representations of Venus with a halo as a symbol of the sacred is a kind of my manifesto about the mutual indispensability of the material and immaterial, body and spirit.
