„SISYPHUS”

BRONZE, 2012

My version of Sisyphus, which also refers to the biblical book of Genesis, depicts him shaping his stone. I show him in a gesture akin to a mother cradling her fate like a child, accepting it. I portrayed Sisyphus as an image of a conscious person, deciding his fate, accepting its fragile sense. Therefore, I was greatly surprised when reading Albert Camus's "Myth of Sisyphus" – it felt just as if I was "reading" my sculpture, a sculpture of Sisyphus who is free and, in a sense, "happy"...
