„MYTH OF EUROPE”

Excerpt from the essay "Myth of Europe":
(…) Thus, I bid farewell to Europe – my sculpture, which cuts through the white studio on the tiny Jaktorowska planet with her long body, suspended in mid-air like an arrow shot from Eleatic’s bow. She must have slid off the bull that was running faster and faster and now, suspended outside time, waits for her future. Only Zeus, who brought her to the place of her birth, has disappeared somewhere. I would like to ask my Europe where that god has gone or at least which direction he sped off to, and what he was like. (Dead god, what were you like and what remains of you?) You, Europe, taught me to see this world as if everything that exists, all the elements comprising this visible and invisible world, were connected by an imperceptible thread of relationships leading to some end, some meaning. Europe, where is that thread, where have you hidden the meanings that are being forgotten? The sculpture that represents you suggests to me that you do not know. In the end, you are entangled in space and time. They do not allow you the necessary distance. However, my sculpture also tells me that you are beautiful – what humans have encapsulated in you over the centuries is impossible to accept without amazement and admiration; you are beautiful and you are young. Yes, I believe that your young body still awaits our thoughts, the fruits of human genius, fruits that you will delight the world with.
