Leszek Kołakowski has a Socratic trait. In the sense that Socrates is an archetype of a philosopher who does not separate thought from life. The life and thought of Kołakowski do not have such a clear outline as the story of Socrates, but they are intertwined and follow the path of authentic searches of a person entangled in the strange twists of history. He started as a propagator of Marxism and an relentless critic of Christianity. For his opposition to the communist party, he was forced to emigrate to become a brilliant critic of materialism and Marxism, and a defender of democracy, Western civilization, and Christian values as the foundation of our culture.
